‘Twilight’ takes $70.6M bite out of box office
This doesn’t surprise me. I do wish that more people would be far more tolerant of Twilight. I keep hearing people whine and complain about the movie and books. They get bent out of shape because the vampires aren’t the same as what Anne Rice wrote about. That’s because Stephenie Meyer is not Anne Rice.
I know the books aren’t the most fabulous work of fiction. But really, in this day and age, what is? There are very few original ideas out there. What matters is that people are reading books. BOOKS. Not playing games, not surfing the net, not causing trouble. READING BOOKS. This, my friends, is a good thing.

And on a personal side note as a parent - I’ve enjoyed finding a series that both my oldest son and I could read, discuss, and enjoy together. I’ve encouraged reading with all of my kids, as I Still do.. and it’s nice when I see that examples and hard work of teaching them how wonderful reading can be stuck with them - every time I see them pick up a book. Even nicer so when it’s a book I don’ mind reading with them. Aside from Green Eggs and Ham, that is.
